The Chevrolet Chevelle is a medium-size classic car that was manufactured by Chevrolet in three generations from 1964 through 1978. As part of the General Motors or GM A-body design, the Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most popular and sought after models. The Chevelle body styles include coupes, sedans, convertibles, and station wagons. In 1973 SuperSport versions were produced and the Lagunas from 1973 through 1976. Just four years after the El Camino was discontinued it was reintroduced as part of the new Chevelle lineup in 1964. The G-body Monte Carlo that appeared in 1970, was also based on the Chevelle in styling and functionality, although it had a longer frontend. The Malibu was the premium Chevelle model through 1972 and completely replaced the Chevelle for the redesigned 1978 model which was more compact.
