2. If you’re installing the headliner on a Ford 1941-1964 model, you’ll need to remove the rear window, prying molding. You can use a brake adjustment tool or a wide-edged screwdriver. It’s easy to remove, but you can use the services of a glazier if you’re not too sure about your skills.

3. Remove the back seats. Also remove the cardboard cover on package tray. Remove the side panels if you’re going to replace the windlace .

4. The old headliner is glued or clamped along front and back of the vehicle. Pull it free at the points where it is attached to the body of the car.

Tack in the new windlace. Straighten any bent teeth behind the retainer strips. Remount the retainer strips and screw them firmly into place.

9. Remove bows from old Headliner. Slide the new Headliner into loops in same order that you removed them.

10. One inch (1") of bow should be visible extending from each end of loop.

11. If necessary, readjust clip loop equally on both sides until one inch (1") of bow is seen on both ends.

12. Work from back to front of the vehicle. Fasten the new Headliner with bows so that it fits like the old headliner.

13. Cement or rivet the new Headliner in center-front and center-rear of the vehicle. You can find the Center of Headiner by looking at a chalk line drawn on the backside of the new Headliner.

14. Allowing two inches on each side and trim excess material from the doors,.

Stretch the headliner under retainer strips by pushing with a dull putty knife and, push small amount of material under retainer strip at center-sides of car.

15. Work alternately from centers toward corners.  Continue to push under retainer strips on sides and back or cement at front and back of car, fastening the new Headliner into place at all points.

16. Spray or sprinkle plain warm water to remove any wrinkles left in cloth Headliners.

17. Trim away or cut off back glass and cement or tack Headliner around edges of glass frames.

18. Cut off any excess material extending from the edges.

19. Replace the accessories that you removed, including the sun visors, dome light, garnish moldings and rear seats.
