Is the replacement carpet made from the same material (e.g., nylon, loop, cutpile) as the original?
In most cases, the replacement carpets we sell don't necessarily use the exact same material used in your classic car's original carpet. However, we offer a variety of replacement carpet materials that aim to match the look, feel, and performance of the original. Here's a breakdown:
- We offer several replacement carpet materials: These include common classic car carpet materials like loop, cutpile, nylon, and even some unique options like their Ultra Plush Essex.
- The carpets we sell focus on replicating the properties: While the material might not be exactly the same, they prioritize matching characteristics important to classic car owners. This includes factors like durability, texture, and aesthetics.
- Check the specific product description: To see which material is used for a particular replacement carpet, consult the product description or contact us if you have any questions.
Does the replacement carpet come in the original color for my car's interior?
We offer over 230 colors for replacement carpets. We may only offer a few of the most popular or common colors for your vehicle in our online store. If you are looking for something that is not shown directly on the site, please get in touch and we will show you what we can offer.
Does the carpet include details like cutouts for pedals, shifter consoles, and seat tracks, replicating the original design?
No, the carpets do not include these details. Our carpets will require edge trimming as well as all mounting holes cut. For example, seat mounts, seatbelt mounts, etc. This is to ensure an accurate as fit as possible for your vehicle.
What is the difference between mass backing and normal backing?
Mass backing for ACC carpets is a special upgrade (added EVA material that is roughly 45mm thick) that adds a layer of insulation to the back of the carpet. This provides several benefits:
- Better sound insulation
- Improved heat control
- More luxurious feel compared to the standard thinner backing
- Easier installation
- Helps the carpet maintain its molded shape
Do I need mass backing?
Here's a quick guide to help you decide on mass backing:
- Choose mass backing for: Sound deadening, heat insulation, more comfortable feel, easier installation.
- Skip mass backing if: You prioritize budget or already have insulation.
How will this replacement carpet hold up to wear and tear?
ACC carpets prioritize durability to match classic car use. While not always the exact original material, they use high-quality options like nylon for long-lasting wear. Check the product description for specific material details. Most importantly, they focus on replicating the original carpet's toughness for years of enjoyment in your car.
Is the carpet easy to install myself, or will I need professional help?
No, a professional isn't required for classic car carpet replacement, but it depends. Most of the carpets we sell are precut and DIY-friendly. There is often some minor trim work required for the final installation to look its best. If you are unsure about a particular carpet, please contact us for more information.
Does the replacement carpet come with a warranty against defects or fading?
Auto Custom Carpets (ACC) warranties their carpets against defects in material and workmanship for one year. This excludes normal wear and tear
