Chevy Corvair History

Designed by Ed Cole, a mechanical engineer for General Motors (GM), who had previously designed the differential for the M20 engine, the Corvair is considered responsible for the boom in the American air-cooled automobile. Manufactured from 1960 to 1969, it was also the first mass-produced American compact car with an air-cooled rear engine, unibody construction, factory turbo, and four-wheel fully independent suspension.
