Reproduction Car Parts for Your Classic Torino

Between 1968 and 1976 The Ford Motor Company produced the Torino for the U.S market. It competed in the market segment for mid-sized cars. The car was named after the city of Turin or Torino, in Italian, because it was nicknamed the Italian Detroit. The Torino was designed as an upscale variation of the mid-sized Ford Fairlane. In 1968, the Ford Fairlane became the base model with lower levels of trim than those models which carried the Torino name. During this time, the Torino wasn’t considered to be it’s own model but a subseries to the Fairlane. In 1970 Torino became the primary name for Ford's mid-size car, and the Fairlane became a subseries of the Torino. In 1971, Ford dropped the Fairlane name altogether, and all mid-size Fords were called Torino. This name was one of the several names that were proposed for the Mustang before production. The Ford Torino was a twin to the Mercury Montego.

The Ford Torino was a conventional car, in general. The most popular models were 4-door sedans and 2-door hardtops. However, Ford created some muscle car versions of the Torino with large powerful engines, such as the 7.0L 428 and 7.0L 429  Cobra-Jet engines. The Torino was also chosen by Ford as the base design for its NASCAR representation, and it has a successful racing history.
